Serena + Kodin's Medicine Hat Golf & Country Club Wedding

Wedding days can be stressful to say the least, but when things don't go quite as planned things can get a little overwhelming for the couple. Once the bride or groom start to show anxiety, everyone will feel the pressure to do what they can to ensure the couple enjoys the best day possible.

One of the first things that can put a "damper" on your wedding plans is weather. For Serena and Kodin, that is exactly what happened. They had planned on a scenic outdoor wedding at Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club with the spectacular view of the coulees and South Saskatchewan River. However, when the rain started to pour, friends and family banded together to move the ceremony inside the clubhouse and the dream of perfect outdoor portraits had to be moved indoors, too.

Fortunately, for these two, as the day progressed the rain stopped and the sun started to shine. Serena compared the weather to her mood. She was so anxious at the beginning of the day with the stormy weather and uncertainty of how the day would play out. But when things came together and turned out well, she felt a huge weight had been lifted just as the clouds. The sun was shining and the evening ended with the most perfect sunset portraits outside.

Words from the Bride:
"I just wanted to give a big huge THANK YOU to these wonderful folks! We worked mainly with Andrea Woods and she is one beautiful soul! She did an amazing job on our family, engagement and my boudoir pics and our wedding pictures. The professionalism is outstanding and the quality is second to none! Small details like making sure lighting is perfect or helping with us pose just right show the pride in workmanship, not to mention they are just so friendly you'll feel like you made life long friends! I would highly recommend them to anyone! Thank you so much again."

Mike + Keri's Elkwater Cypress Hills Destination Wedding

Many of our Elkwater wedding bookings are couples who are native to Medicine Hat due to the city's close proximity to the park. Recently, however, there have been a number of couples from across the prairies looking to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park for a true destination wedding experience in the woods.

Mike and Keri's family and friends all traveled from northern Alberta to share in their special day and enjoy a little adventure at the same time. Elkwater conveniently offers a variety of accommodations and activities for guests, so there is no shortage of entertainment.

This couple held their intimate wedding ceremony on the peninsula right in front of the lake. It has the most spectacular view! I highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting to set the scene with the picturesque sky. The wind off the water provided a pretty good breeze to keep us cool during this July wedding, too. Keep in mind though this is a very popular spot for geese and other birds, so you may need to get your wedding party out there sweeping the ground for you and your guests.
