Cypress Hills Wedding

Mike + Keri's Elkwater Cypress Hills Destination Wedding

Many of our Elkwater wedding bookings are couples who are native to Medicine Hat due to the city's close proximity to the park. Recently, however, there have been a number of couples from across the prairies looking to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park for a true destination wedding experience in the woods.

Mike and Keri's family and friends all traveled from northern Alberta to share in their special day and enjoy a little adventure at the same time. Elkwater conveniently offers a variety of accommodations and activities for guests, so there is no shortage of entertainment.

This couple held their intimate wedding ceremony on the peninsula right in front of the lake. It has the most spectacular view! I highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting to set the scene with the picturesque sky. The wind off the water provided a pretty good breeze to keep us cool during this July wedding, too. Keep in mind though this is a very popular spot for geese and other birds, so you may need to get your wedding party out there sweeping the ground for you and your guests.

Crystal + Rob's Elkwater Wedding | Cypress Hills Wedding Photographer

Those couples planning a fall wedding are really challenging their odds of having a perfect day with amazing weather and gorgeous leaves; or the opposite - winter chill and bare trees. Fortunately, for Cypress Hills weddings like Crystal and Rob's wedding in Elkwater, you may just have your dream fall nuptials!

This wedding became the epitome of a fall wedding - all of the reasons one plans a wedding in early October. First off, the temperature was just right especially for the groom in his suit. Secondly, even though it was a windy day, in the security of Cypress Hills trees you would never notice. There was just the right amount of leaves to add that desired fall colour on the ground and in the trees. The wind blew leaves off the trees and was ever so perfectly timed at the very moment this couple took their first kiss as husband and wife. Let's call that one of the luckiest signs to have on your special day!
